3 Reasons Why You Should Hire a Surprise Proposal Photographer
Why Surprise Proposals Are Special?
Surprise proposals are always a great option for couples. It’s a romantic way to propose and is equally exciting for everyone involved: couples, families, friends, and even strangers. Nothing screams romance like a charming setting such as a lake, vineyard, and whatever sentimental spot that matters to you and your person.
Sure, even if an engagement has been in talks for a while between the couple, the moment needs to be a surprise. Capturing genuine emotions the second the big question is popped creates images that couples and their friends and family will cherish forever.
Memorable Engagement Sessions
Patrick and Abby
Patrick and Abby’s engagement is one I’ll never forget. Patrick chose to propose on Lake Lure. Not only did he want some great camera photos, he wanted some drone footage. To bring his idea to life, he rented two boats. One for him and one for me. I went out before them to make sure I wasn’t giving the surprise away and I rode around on the lake for a bit until it was time to get to the predesignated spot I wanted him to propose at. I have to admit it felt a little like a secret agent mission!
When it was time to anchor the boat, I had two cameras: one on a tripod and one on me. And of course, the drone! The drone caught Abby’s attention, so while she was distracted Patrick got down on one knee to ask the question. Behind them were the mountains and the sun, truly a perfect day. It was really sweet.
Andrew and Madison
Andrew’s proposal to Madison was at a beautiful vineyard near Franklin. This one was unique since I’ve never been to the vineyard and didn’t know what to expect, so I made sure it was okay with the venue first. I got to the vineyard a bit earlier than Andrew and Madison. Dinner made them a bit late, but we were sure to make sure everything went smoothly. I sat at the bar and chatted with people until it was time for the big moment.
Andrew ended up going to the wrong spot, but it all worked out. I chased after Andrew and Madison and they never noticed I was there. The shots were perfect.
Nicole and Erica
Nicole reached out to me to capture her and Erica’s big day. She wanted to do it at Anakista; It’s a big round tower with 360 degree views everywhere. I texted Erica telling her where to stand in the tower and I asked her to stand by the southwest marker for the best view and lighting. She didn’t realize there were markers, so she began using the compass on her phone to make sure she was in the right place. I really appreciated her commitment to finding our spot! To remain discreet, I asked a random mom and daughter to act like I was taking pictures for them. They were so kind and played along!
